Laser rosacea treatment in Kyiv

Rosacea is a chronic facial skin condition. At first there are episodes of flushing from heat, stress or spicy food; over time the redness becomes permanent, vessels show through, and in some cases breakouts appear. The skin burns, becomes sensitive and tolerates cosmetics poorly.

The Fotona laser addresses the main sign of rosacea – dilated vessels. The Nd:YAG neodymium laser closes them from within, so redness and flushing become weaker and less frequent. The dermatologist combines treatments with skincare and therapy suited to your skin.

How rosacea shows on the face

The stage of rosacea determines the role the laser plays in treatment.

  • Redness and flushing – cheeks, nose, forehead and chin turn red from heat, wine, coffee or anxiety.
  • Persistent erythema – redness does not fade even at rest.
  • Visible vessels – thin red lines on the cheeks and sides of the nose.
  • Breakouts – red bumps and pustules without blackheads, unlike acne.
  • Skin sensitivity – burning, tingling, dryness and reactions to cosmetics.

Rosacea cannot be cured completely, but it can be brought under control: flare-ups become rare and the skin calm.

How laser rosacea treatment works

The treatment takes 20–30 minutes. It begins outside a flare-up, when the skin is calm.

  • 1. Diagnosis

The dermatologist determines the form and stage of rosacea, rules out other causes of redness and draws up a treatment plan.

  • 2. Preparation

The skin is gently cleansed and the eyes are protected with goggles. No anaesthesia is needed.

  • 3. Laser work

The doctor treats areas of redness and vessels. A cooling handpiece makes the treatment comfortable.

  • 4. After the treatment

Redness and mild swelling may increase for 1–2 days, then the skin calms down.

Course and result

Usually 3–5 sessions 3–4 weeks apart are needed. Redness decreases gradually after each session.

Rosacea tends to come back, so the doctor may recommend 1–2 sessions a year to maintain the result.

Rosacea skincare

Use SPF 50 daily and gentle products without alcohol, menthol or essential oils. Wash with cool water and don’t rub the skin.

For 3–5 days after the treatment avoid saunas, hot drinks, alcohol and intense workouts.

Frequently asked questions about rosacea treatment

Can rosacea be cured with a laser?

Rosacea cannot be cured completely – it is a chronic condition. But the laser noticeably reduces redness and visible vessels, and flare-ups become less frequent. It works best combined with skincare and treatment from a dermatologist.

Does the laser help with rosacea breakouts?

The laser primarily acts on vessels and redness. Inflammatory bumps and pustules are treated with medication prescribed by a dermatologist, and the laser is added once the inflammation has subsided.

Can the treatment be done during a flare-up?

No. The flare-up is calmed first, and laser therapy starts when the skin is stable.

Is laser rosacea treatment painful?

You feel warmth and brief tingling. The handpiece cools the skin, so no anaesthesia is needed.

How is rosacea different from couperose?

Couperose is dilated capillaries without other symptoms; it is removed with laser vessel removal. Rosacea is a condition that, besides vessels, involves flushing, persistent redness, breakouts and skin sensitivity, so it requires a comprehensive treatment plan.

Who is laser rosacea treatment contraindicated for?

The treatment is not performed during pregnancy, during a flare-up, with a fresh tan, oncological diseases, skin infection in the treatment area, or while taking photosensitising medication.
